The Potter - Nampeyo is one of the rarest of all the images produded by Edward S. Curtis in the Goldtone medium and, to my mind, the most beautiful.
This is a most extraordinary original Curtis Goldtone appeaaring in a pristine condition original Curtis Seattle Studio frame with a archivally conserved frame back.
This example's exposure is as perfect and brilliant as possible to be seen in the Goldtone medium. The emulsion itself is also as close to flawless to be found. The original Curtis Studio Seattle frame is in near pristine condition. This Goldtone is one of the only 15 percent that were produced by Curtis which had both perfect exposure and a flawless emulsion, free of any imperfections in the emulsion, no finger prints or flaws whatsoever.
This work is simply the most outstanding example overall of any Curtis Goldtone I have had the opportunity to see in my four-plus decades as a gallerist and dealer.
