Signed "Curtis" in brown ink on the lower right margin of the original Holland Van Gelder over mat.
Only one complete set of The North American Indian is known to have been signed by Edward Curtis and that was the Stetson set.
To place the rarity of a signed photogravure in perspective, in my 33 plus years in the Curtis field, I have seen less than 15 examples and of those approximate 15, only two others have been on Japan Tissue.
