Medicine Rattle, Navajo, c. 1920
The Rattle's top end is made from deer hooves connected to the base of the rattle by buffalo hide thongs. The base of the rattle is buffalo hide wrapped near the top by strips of untanned buffalo hide. The entire base has been saturated with dark terra cotta mud.

The condition is excellent appearing with a rich original patina and showing wear along the handle.
