Vintage Curtis Goldtone in the original Curtis Studio Seattle frame with a complete Curtis Studio description label intact on the original frame backing. A desirable feature not seen before to my knowledge, is the original Curtis Studio description legend has been applied the wrong Goldtone by the Curtis Studio Seattle making this even more desirable that it already is.

Vintage rare 10" x 8" Goldtone image of Chief Of The Desert appearing in the original Curtis Studio Seattle frame with complete Curtis Studio description legend on original remnants of original frame backing.
The 10" x 8" Goltone images were produced in far fewer numbers than the more popular 11"x 14" Goldtone size. While there exists no Curtis Studio data, it has long been assumed that the 11" X 14" size far outnumbers any of those produced in the 10" x 8" size. Curiously, the Curtis Studio legend is not correct for this Goldtone making it all the more unique. It reads, Son Of The Desert, as opposed to A Chief Of The Desert-Navaho--an anomoly I have never seen before in my 34 years in the field.
The Goldtone itself is one of the only 15 percent that were produced by Curtis which were flawless exposures. Neither too light or too dark, free of any imperfections in the emulsion, no finger prints or flaws whatsoever. A 1/16 inch scratch is visible to the right of the blanket collar on the glass. The frame is missing some areas of the plaster. Most notably on the upper right bat-wing corner and to the lower right bat-wing corner.
This is truly a rare example of A Chief Of The Desert-Navaho, an image not often seen in the 10" x 8" Goldtone format.
