Vintage Curtis Goldtone in the original Curtis Studio Seattle frame with partial Curtis Studio description legend as well as a complete Curtis Studio sticker present on remnants of frame backing.
Vintage Goldtone image of The Vanishing Race appearing in the original Curtis Studio Seattle frame with partial Curtis Studio description legend intact, the number 15 written in pencil just to the right of the legend, as well as a complete Curtis Studio sticker present on remnant of frame backing, 11 x 14, circa 1904.
The Goldtone image itself is luminous and nearly flawless. It is free of any imperfections commonly seen in the Goldtone emulsion: no fingerprints, no staining, no flaws whatsoever. A single 1/16 of an inch scratch in the glass is visible just to he left of the rider's head.
Most would consider the exposure perfect-- neither too light nor too dark. Only a very select few might consider it a degree too dark to be deemed absolutely perfect.
The Curtis Studio frame is in overall excellent original condition with very minor cracking found at all bat-wing frame corners.
There are other examples of The Vanishing Race currently on the market but none are better overall than this extraordinary example of a nearly flawless vintage Curtis Goldtone.
Further, this Vanishing Race Goldtone has remained with the same family for over 62 years and has never appeared on the market until now being offered by the Bruce Kapson Gallery.
